A Circuit City discount, twenty-five years later.
My first job was Circuit City. My employee discount funded my first car stereo — a fancy rotating faceplate Kenwood and a Sony amp with subs, installed with more enthusiasm than craft. Twenty-five years later I bought a new truck, and the stock B&O sound was deeply disappointing. I convinced my wife to approve a “simple, minor upgrade.” Then I started watching YouTube.

Everything spiraled from an EMMA walk-around video.
Lots of googling. Peter from PS Sound walking around a Salzburg EMMA final. 5 Star Car Audio for install technique. Car Audio Fabrication for amp boards. Then I drove to an SPL show in a failed attempt to find that same EMMA-grade craftsmanship. It was incredibly loud, none of the installs were my style. I then heard about SVR and went as a spectator. That's where I met Luke Ouellet, Brian Mitchell, and Nick Apicella, took inspiration from every demo, and stopped pretending this was going to be simple.
